さまざまな性のあり方、人体、ファッションとしぐさ。社会や周りの人・環境との交流の中で、人々は居心地の良い自分のあり方を築いていく。そんな多様なあり方や、その語りの多様性をそのまま晒す本作品。
本作品は10人のインタビューと30人を超える人たちの写真によって構成されている。中にはアーティスト、作家、セックスワーカー、ポルノパフォーマー、活動家、ジェンダー研究者などがいて、性別二元論に敏感なクィアなフェミニストたちは、ジェンダー、ナルシシズム、自己愛について語ってくれる。登場する1人ひとりはそれぞれ、さまざまな葛藤と闘い続けてきたが、今この場では自分をとても愛している。
古典的油絵の肖像画のようなライティングの下で撮られた、自分を愛する主人公たちの写真。感情を抑制した統一化したセッティングの下で、主人公たちの多様性はよりクリアに見える。自分の体を恥ずかしがらず、鏡越しに見つめ、レンズを通して堂々と展示する。
全編を通して、ずっと誰かが語り続けている作品だが、1人ひとりの話に引き込まれてしまい、あっという間にエンディングを迎えた。2022年ベルリンポルノ映画祭（Porn Film Festival Berlin 2022）をはじめ、複数の映画祭でベストドキュメンタリー賞を受賞した佳作をどうぞお楽しみに。

Working on the project ‘NARCISSISM – The Auto-Erotic Images.’ has been a long process of constant creative and personal turmoil … – not only for me, the filmmaker.It‘s a photobook and documentary about narcissism and self-love – and I have to admit that the idea came out of a gut feeling and so I plunged into it without knowing exactly why (as so often).I especially liked the idea of being a servant to the protagonists, aiming to capture their intimate and genuine view into the mirror. Listening to their stories – about their personal journeys, struggles, desires, fantasies …
Taking myself back as a photographer and interviewer as much as possible. Holding back. Staying in the background. As always.And it has been overwhelming: Thank you to the awesome participants – I am deeply impressed what you all are willing to share in front of the camera. You also made me realise what my very personal thing is with narcissism and self-love and also that all of a sudden I‘m dealing with issues I didn‘t even know they exist.
Have I been on the wrong track so far? It‘s clear now: I, too, have to come out of the woods in this project and I will. No holding back. Intriguing.
Now that the film is finished, I am truly overwhelmed by the feedback and the great Q&As with the audience. I am very happy that the film seems to be thought-provoking and empowering for so many different people!

制作趣旨：
Toni Karat invited over 30 border crossers of all kinds to this beautiful untouched attic of 1929 - in order to explore the intimate view in the mirror, accompanied by photo shoots and interviews about gender, narcissism and self-love.
It turned out that everyone has their own very individual understanding of narcissism - and also the filmmaker had to question some basic assumptions.
The film is accompanied by a photo book featuring the protagonists.
