第11回関西クィア映画祭2017
Kansai Queer Film Festival (KQFF) is a Kansai-based film festival that shines a spotlight on a wide variety of queer films, which focus on diverse genders, sexualities, and lifestyles. What distinguishes KQFF is its broad concern on themes and problems of not only LGBTs but also other minorities in the society and our community. Our first event was held over two days in 2005 and attracted approximately 1200 visitors. 12 years later, in Autumn 2017, we are proud to be hosting the 11th KQFF.
11th Kansai Queer Film Festival 2017(KQFF2017) will take place on 16th Sept. in Osaka, 17th Sept. in Toyonaka, and 27th-29th Oct. in Kyoto.
What is Queer?
Originally meaning strange or weird, the term "queer" came to mean homosexual or anything within the realm of "abnormal" sexuality or gender and has been used as a derogatory slur. However, to counter the negative image, we want to reclaim the word “queer” so that ways of living thought of as "abnormal" or "atypical" can be reframed in a positive light. In reclaiming this word, we intend to promote individual autonomy over their gender, sexuality and/or lifestyles, and visibilization of gender binary or other social norms that we are told we must or should follow, so that we can start to question and challenge them.

★DEADLINE will be EARLIER★ Due to the many submissions, we are changing our FOREIGN film submission deadline of 2017 from MARCH 31 to FEB 28. If you would like us to consider your film for 2017, send us your preview copy by FEB 28. (Domestic submission deadline is still March 31.)
